Past Clinical Experience

I have extensive experience working with adolescents and adults.  In particular, I have worked in the mental health department of the correctional system in the United States as well as Australia.  I have also worked with patients diagnosed with eating disorders at the Renfrew Center in Pompano, Florida.

As a Clinical Consultant at University Pavilion Hospital, I evaluated individuals and consulted with the multi-disciplinary team to determine the need for involuntary hospitalization.  I have also worked with child survivors of abuse in a family therapy setting to help them recover from trauma. During internship, I provided individual therapy for adults in an outpatient setting at the Aurora Mental Health Center. I also served on the Emergency Team for clients who were in crisis.

As a group therapist, I provided therapy for sex offenders in the offenders program. Additionally, I was on the Testing Team where I continuously conducted psychodiagnostic evaluations for adolescents.  During my post-doctoral studies, I was a clinician for adolescent clients in the Statewide Inpatient Psychiatric Program (SIPP).  I supervised and trained Mental Health Technicians and consulted with other residents about services at the residential facility.

Within the academic setting, I supervised psychological services for approximately 154 students in an Emotional Behavioral Disabled (EBD) setting at the Robert Renick Educational Center. Through this experience, I provided therapy, conducted psychoeducational evaluations, consulted with staff, teachers and administrators about how to engage children with severe mental illness in the educational setting.
